Nebraska is now 0-2 in the Matt Rhule era after a 36-14 road loss to Colorado.

The Cornhuskers’ defense looked dominant in the early stages, sacking Shedeur Sanders 4 times in the first half and holding the Buffaloes at bay.

But the Huskers’ offensive ineptitude helped Deion Sanders and the Buffs improve to 2-0. They went fumble, punt, punt, missed field goal, fumble, interception, and punt in their 7 1st half offensive possessions. Meanwhile, the Buffs closed the half out with 13 unanswered points, while Shedeur Sanders finished the day 31-of-42 for 393 yards and 2 touchdowns.

While they still lead the all-time series by a wide margin — 49-21-2 — it’s the 3rd game in a row the Huskers have dropped against their former Big Eight foes. What’s more, they made history in the wrong fashion on Saturday: it’s their worst loss to the Buffs since 2001.

Nebraska needs a win in the worst way to keep this season from spiraling completely out of control. Its next shot comes at home in Week 3 as it faces Northern Illinois.
