Nebraska will finish the 2024 season in the Pinstripe Bowl against Boston College on December 28, but the Cornhuskers made an announcement on Monday about when and where they will start the 2025 season.

The Cornhuskers will open the 2025 season against Cincinnati at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, which is the home of the 2-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. This game was originally supposed to be a home game for Cincinnati, but the game was moved to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis before Monday’s announcement.

Nebraska’s director of athletics Troy Dannen said in a statement that this is a great opportunity for Nebraska fans.

“We are pleased to partner with the University of Cincinnati and the Kansas City Chiefs to bring our 2025 season-opening matchup to Arrowhead Stadium,” Dannen said. “Since arriving at Nebraska, one constant message I have heard from our fans is they miss having road football games that are within driving distance. This game offers an excellent opportunity for our great fan base to make a short trip to watch the Huskers open the season and enjoy Labor Day weekend in Kansas City.”

Along with the location, the start of the 2025 season will also now be a Thursday game. The network and time of the game will be determined during the Big 12 television selection process during the spring of 2025.
