With just one week left before the season opener, Nebraska has unveiled the 4 captains of the Huskers for the 2021 campaign.

The announcement came Saturday afternoon in a graphic on Twitter. Those captains will be quarterback Adrian Martinez, tight end Austin Allen, defensive lineman Damion Daniels, and defensive back Cam Taylor-Britt.

Each of that group has played a vital role for the Huskers in recent seasons and will be looking for a strong performance in 2021. Now, they will also get the opportunity to lead the team as captains.

Martinez was the leading QB for Nebraska in 2020, throwing for 1,055 yards and scoring 11 total touchdowns. For his career, Martinez has over 5,600 yards passing and over 1,700 yards rushing with 53 touchdowns.

Allen took a step forward in 2020 and is Nebraska’s leading returning receiver after posting 236 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, Daniels finished with 18 tackles and 4.0 TFL. Taylor-Britt ended the year with 28 tackles and tied for the team lead with 2 interceptions.

Now, Nebraska will put the finishing touches on preparation for the season opener against Illinois. Next Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1 pm EST on FOX.
