Nebraska is making an update to the depth chart after previously entering the season with 4 running backs split evenly. Now, there are two leaders in the backfield, and that mirrors what the Huskers saw from the running back room in Week 2.

In the big win over Colorado, it was Dante Dowdell who dominated the carries for Nebraska. He led the team with 17 carries for 74 yards and 2 touchdowns and was efficient with over 4 yards per carry.

While Dowdell led the team in rushing production, fellow RB Rahmir Johnson also had 17 touches and finished with 82 yards of offense. Johnson was the team’s leading receiver with 8 receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown to go with 33 rushing yards.

Following that kind of performance, Nebraska now has Dowdell and Johnson listed as co-starters on the depth chart with the “OR” designation. Emmett Johnson and Gabe Ervin Jr. are now listed behind that top duo with the “OR” designation for the third spot on the depth chart.

Through 2 games, Dowdell leads the Huskers with 25 carries, 129 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Week 2 matchup was the first time Rahmir Johnson was used as a receiver this year, but his 8 catches already rank 2nd on the Huskers.

We’ll see how the offense looks after that update, but the early returns are very promising.
