Nebraska went 4-8 last season and was still ranked in the AP Poll. It's been a long time since that last happened
Count the media voters for the Associated Press poll as believers in Scott Frost and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. They’re really expecting big things out of Lincoln.
On Monday, the first Associated Press rankings of the 2019 season were released and Nebraska cracked the top 25. The Huskers were listed at No. 24, despite finishing the 2018 campaign with a losing record.
In fact, according to the AP’s Ralph Russo, Nebraska’s 4-8 mark last fall is the worst record for a ranked team in the following year’s Associated Press Poll in nearly 20 years.
Nebraska (4-8) has the worst record from the previous season for a team ranked in the AP preseason Top 25 since Alabama went 3-8 in 2000 and was ranked No. 25 to start the 2001 season.https://t.co/hdxCXfZJfC

In 2001, Alabama was ranked No. 25, despite suffering through a 3-9 season the year before. That year didn’t go quite so well (by Bama’s standards) as the Crimson Tide finished 7-5 and appeared in the Independence Bowl.

Obviously, the preseason rankings are nothing more than a talking point. It carries absolutely no weight and will likely be dead wrong by the end of the year. But it is interesting that so many are buying into the Huskers this season.
We’ll see if Frost and company can deliver in his second year in Lincoln.
