A Nebraska receiver has decided to leave the program.

Tuesday night, it was reported that Huskers wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey was transferring from the program. A Nebraska spokesperson confirmed that Lindsey had asked for and been granted his release, according to Sean Callahan of HuskerOnline.com.

Lindsey is a former 4-star recruit and was a member of a group of talented wide receivers Mike Riley recruited heavily during his time in Lincoln. The highly-touted receiver struggled to get his footing with the Huskers.

This season, Lindsey caught just three passes for 22 yards and took two handoffs for nine yards. He’s also fielded five punt returns for one yard. He didn’t have a very big role in 2017 either, recording just 12 receptions for 76 yards.

As a recruit, Lindsey had offers from several top-tier programs, including Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame and USC. He was the No. 7 receiver in the 2017 recruiting class and was ranked as the No. 50 prospect in the nation according to 247Sports.

No reason for the decision to transfer was provided.
