Nebraska’s 93-66 Big Ten Tournament rout of Indiana comes with a long list of notes, as the 2023-24 Huskers continue to establish themselves as one of the most accomplished squads in program history.

The Huskers were on fire shooting the 3-ball Friday night. Entering the game, Nebraska’s record for most 3-pointers in a conference tournament game was 11 vs. Maryland in 2016. That record fell in a 50-point 1st half for the Huskers, who drained 12 triples in the first 20 minutes.

Nebraska would finish the 93-66 win, going 14-of-32 from beyond the arc. Brice Williams and Keisei Tominaga each made 4 3-pointers in the game.

Friday’s win was the first victory for the Huskers in the B1G Tournament since 2019. It is the program’s first time advancing to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Nebraska’s last conference semifinal game was in 2006 when the Huskers were still in the Big 12.

For the Huskers, the 27-point win is their largest in a conference tournament game. The previous high was a 23-point margin against Iowa State in the 1983 Big Eight Tournament, a game played in Lincoln.

The blowout win over Indiana was Nebraska’s third time defeating the Hoosiers this season. Nebraska basketball had not defeated an opponent 3 times in a season since Rutgers in the 2015-16 campaign.

Nebraska NCAA Tournament outlook

The Huskers improved their record to 23-9 with the win over IU. The 23 wins are the second-most in program history.

Nebraska has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2014. It’s safe to say that’s about to change, with confirmation coming Sunday.

On Friday, Nebraska was widely projected as an 8- or 9-seed in the Big Dance. In his Saturday morning bracketology update, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Huskers as a 7-seed in the East Region, opening against a 10-seed Colorado squad in Charlotte to potentially face a 2-seed Tennessee in the second round.

It’s tough to draw a 1- or 2-seed in the opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament. If the Huskers can shoot the 3-ball, though, they can take down anybody.
