Nebraska’s basketball team is getting some serious help come the 2021-22 college basketball season.

This week, the Huskers received a verbal pledge from 6-foot-11, 230-pound junior college center Blaise Keita, who is currently playing at Coffeyville Community College. He is ranked as the No. 1 prospect at the junior college level for the 2022 class, per 247Sports.

Keita averaged 12.1 points and 8.1 rebounds in the first eight games of the season.

Right now, Keita is the only player committed to Nebraska’s 2022 class. But Fred Hoiberg did an excellent job recruiting the 2021 class, landing three players and signing the B1G’s No. 3 class and ranking No. 24 nationally. Keita will give the Huskers a much-needed experienced big man when he arrives in Lincoln.

Nebraska has struggled on the hardwood this season, sitting with a 5-12 record which includes a 1-9 mark in conference play. The Huskers recently got their first league win of the year, defeating Penn State 62-61 in thrilling fashion in Happy Valley.
