Nebraska’s kicking situation is suboptimal right now. With placekicker Barrett Pickering suffering from leg pain, the Huskers have been forced to use a slew of different players in an attempt to find a solid replacement.

So far, Nebraska has used three replacements — Dylan Jorgenson, Isaac Armstrong and Lan McCallum. The three have missed four of the six field goal attempts and one extra point this season. Three kicks have been blocked.

In an attempt to remedy the issue on special teams, Nebraska has added a walk-on player with football and soccer experience to the roster.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, Matt Waldoch is the Nebraska student who has walked on to the program. He played club soccer at the school and was listed as a member of the Bugeaters FC soccer roster in 2018. He played high school football and soccer.

The injury to Pickering has certainly created an interesting situation in Lincoln. It should be interesting to see if and when Waldoch will get an opportunity to become a permanent replacement.

Last season, Pickering converted on 14-of-18 field goal attempts and knocked down 40-of-41 extra point tries.
