Ochaun Mathis transferred in from TCU to Nebraska this season. It looks like this season may have been his last as a college player.

Mathis confirmed that he will be heading to the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday. Mathis played in all 12 games for the Huskers this season recording 48 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.

Mathis made sure to thank former interim HC Mickey Joseph in the Nebraska DE’s Twitter post about the decision.

“Mickey Joseph, coach I appreciate you through all the challenges we have faced together and appreciate your advice and mentorship. This has been a long journey and I am excited for it to continue. With that being said, I am happy to announce I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.”

Nebraska finished with a 4-8 record under Joseph, beating Iowa in his final game 24-17. Matt Rhule will not have the chance to coach Mathis it seems.
