Ochaun Mathis joined Nebraska in the offseason, and his season with the Huskers has not gone as planned so far. The team is off to a 1-2 start, but Mathis has been solid with 15 tackles, 1.5 TFL and a sack.

Unfortunately, Mathis will suit up for a second head coach this season when the Huskers take the field in Week 3. Scott Frost was fired Sunday following a disappointing loss to Georgia Southern in Week 2.

On Sunday, Jimmy Watkins of the Omaha World-Herald caught up with Mathis to tackle what needs to change. According to Mathis, the Huskers have a belief system that needs to be addressed.

Mathis says there is “a losing culture” right now and some players “don’t know what it looks like to win.”

We’ll see if Mickey Joseph is able to rally the Huskers for the rest of 2022.
