After Nebraska announced that Adrian Martinez was the projected quarterback starter, head coach Scott Frost decided against it and started Luke McCaffrey instead.

It’s already been a great call as the Cornhuskers marched 69 yards and got the game’s opening touchdown:

The touchdown came on a quarterback sneak inside the five-yard line to give the Cornhuskers an early 7-0 lead over Penn State. McCaffrey completed 4-of-5 passes for 45 yards and rushed the ball 3 times for 24 yards on the opening possession.

It was capped with a 1-yard touchdown run by McCaffrey. It was his first drive as a starter for the Huskers.

We’ll have to see how the Cornhusker offense looks for the rest of the game but this is exactly the start they needed with a new quarterback.

The game is currently being televised on FS1.
