Everyone in the state of Nebraska was looking forward to the debut of new head coach Scott Frost. The governor even declared Saturday “Scott Frost Day” as the Huskers planned to open the season against Akron in Lincoln.
Unfortunately, the debut of the new head coach will have to wait an extra week.
Due to some dangerous stroms with heavy rain and lightning, Nebraska was forced to cancel its game against Akron on Saturday night.
Just how bad was the storm surrounding Memorial Stadium? A few folks captured some images from the scene.

So now that lightning has ruined the opener for Nebraska, here are teams with the same Oct. 27th bye week as the @HuskerFBNation:

Week 9 (Oct. 27): Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, Michigan, LSU, UCF, Memphis, Troy

Husker fans were disappointed, but it was probably the right move to call off the game.
Nebraska will still open the 2018 season with a home game, hosting for Big XII rival Colorado at Memorial Stadium next Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
