Rahmir Johnson will be handling a different role for Nebraska this season.

He’ll be taking on the role of a position he has dubbed the ‘wide back’. That’s what he’s calling it per The Athletic’s Mitch Sherman.

Johnson will be used as a RB/slot WR combo according to Zack Carpenter of Rivals. After watching clips of Tavon Austin and De’Athony Thomas, he’s become more and more interested in it. This could add a new whole new dimension to the Cornhusker offense if it pays off.

“It’s like oh snap, is he playing running back or slot,” said Johnson. “We do it all. I grew up watching guys like Tavon Austin, De’Athony Thomas, and Christian McCaffrey. Guys like that. The more you can do, the more it helps you get on the field more.”

It should very exciting watching Johnson in his new role if he’s anything like the previous players he mentioned.
