There are a lot of jokes and criticism pointed Nebraska’s direction right now.
Friday morning, Stadium’s Brett McMurphy reported that Nebraska was trying to get out of this year’s trip to Norman, as the Huskers are scheduled to play Oklahoma on Sept. 18. A reason behind this potential move was not given, but McMurphy did report that the athletic department was looking at potential opponents to come to Lincoln on that date.
Nebraska and Oklahoma had scheduled a home-and-home for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, with this year being played in Norman and the 2022 game being held in Lincoln. It’s unclear if the two teams would reschedule.
As you might expect, there is a lot of attention for the Huskers, and it’s not all good. Everyone had something to say about the latest report heading into the weekend:

Critics wanted Nebraska’s full commitment to the Big Ten? Well, here you go. When your HS girlfriend calls and invites you to the class reunion, you make up an excuse, stay home and watch Netflix with your wife. Same here, right? https://t.co/fwk9sOBFtw

Wow I’m embarrassed if true.
Someone hurry and try to explain to me why it’s not the way it sounds because Brett is tweeting fighting words if this is false https://t.co/rFuklV1ZBX

It’s gonna be really funny if they buy out of this game, pay a Sun Belt school $1.2 million to come to Lincoln, and then lose anyway https://t.co/w2HeCCLQBm
