Rece Davis says Nebraska is 'in free fall,' offers prediction for Wisconsin matchup
Rece Davis had a bleak analysis of Nebraska’s recent stretch of football. However, he ended on a somewhat positive note as it relates to Week 13.
During the preview episode of the weekly College GameDay podcast, Davis described Matt Rhule’s program as in “free fall” with 2 weeks to go in the season. After once looking like a lock to reach a bowl game, the Huskers need to win one of the final two games to guarantee a spot.
Davis believes this week’s matchup against the Badgers at home is the one Nebraska must have to get to a bowl game:
“They’re in free fall. They’ve changed OC’s, Dana Holgorsen’s now running it, trying to get the most out of Dylan Raiola who is a really talented guy. But this feels like it,” said Davis. “This feels like the one Nebraska had better win if they’re going to break this bowl drought.”
As for the matchup, Davis is willing to go with Nebraska to get that much-needed win because Wisconsin is also going to be in its first game since firing an OC. But Davis expects this to be one ugly game with an odd final score.
“You have a couple of teams, back against the wall… I think the free fall is going to stop for Nebraska. I think they’ll win an ugly game, I think they’ll barely win it,” Davis predicted. “… I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the 13-12 kind of game, 19-18, some kind of weird scorigami situation. I’ll go Nebraska at home and say they stop their 4-game losing streak.”
