A former running back from the 2019 recruiting class is expected to join the Nebraska football program as a walk-on this season, according to a report from Sean Callahan of Rivals.com.

Callahan is reporting that former three-star Ohio running back John Bivens is expected to join the Huskers this offseason as a walk-on player. He went unsigned during the 2019 recruiting period due to unmet academic requirements. He also sustained a serious injury ahead of the 2018 season, costing him his entire senior year on the football field.

As a recruit, Bivens was ranked as the No. 38 running back in the 2019 class and the No. 21 player out of Ohio. Overall, Bivens was listed as the No. 589 player in the class.

Per Callahan, Bivens is listed as a student at Nebraska and has intentions of walking on to the football program. He would add some solid depth to the running back room in Lincoln, which could use a boost.

Bivens received 10 offers on the recruiting trail, getting interest from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, Iowa State, Purdue, USC, West Virginia and Toledo.

During his final season of high school football (2017), Bivens rushed for 1,308 yards and accounted for 15 touchdowns.
