Report: Transfer QB expected to visit Nebraska over the weekend
Nebraska is looking for a starting quarterback after Adrian Martinez opted for the transfer portal after 4 years with the program. While there are some in-house players that will likely draw a look at being the starter, it would not be surprising to see the Huskers try and land a QB with experience via the portal.
One of those players is expected to visit Nebraska over the weekend. According to Chris Hummer with 247 Sports, Akron QB Zach Gibson is expected to check out the Huskers and Georgia Tech this week:
“Getting the opportunity to see a place with that kind of tradition, it’s a blessing,” Gibson said. “My family and I are super excited.”
Gibson was not the full-time starter for Akron this year but he played well when he saw the field. He led the Zips with 1,262 yards passing and 10 touchdowns without an interception in 7 games played. Gibson also completed better than 69% of his passes on the year.
A 3-star member of the 2019 recruiting class out of Georgia, Gibson is an interesting transfer candidate to keep an eye on.
