Jonathan Rose’s Nebraska career did not come to an end the way it should’ve.

Instead of leading the Blackshirts to a victory against UCLA in the Foster Farms Bowl, Rose won’t even be on the field. Mike Riley announced on Tuesday that the senior cornerback was suspended for a violation of team rules.

It marked the third time this season in which Rose was suspended.

The 6-1 cornerback played in nine games this season and was seventh on the team with 42 tackles. He was tied for the team lead with seven pass breakups and had one interception in his third season with the Huskers.

Rose sat out the 2012 season after transferring from Auburn following his freshman season.

The Huskers defense struggled to defend the pass all season. They ranked 121st of 127 FBS teams, which could be a problem against a UCLA passing attack that averaged 285 yards per game in the regular season.

Riley also announced that defensive tackle Mick Stoltenberg will be out for the Foster Farms Bowl because of knee surgery.
