Add another name to the list of departures from Nebraska under Scott Frost.

The latest appears to be freshman Marcus Fleming. He was a highly-touted recruit in his first season and Lincoln and appears to be on his way.

This exit was confirmed Monday during Husker coach Scott Frost’s regularly scheduled press conference.

Fleming had not seen extensive action outside of the 21-13 loss to Northwester in Week 2. In that game, the 5-foot-10 wideout caught five passes for 75 yards. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school.

Since then, the Miami native has been MIA, including Friday’s loss to Iowa when he was not even on the sidelines. The reason for that seems clear now based on Frost’s comments.

The number of players from Frost’s 2020 recruiting class that have already decided to leave Lincoln is astounding. This has been especially true for those from Florida, a state where Nebraska picked up a number of highly-touted recruits.

Three 2020 recruits out of Florida — Henry Gray, Jaiden Francois and Keyshawn Greene — never even played a down with the Huskers and transferred before the season. Cornerback Ronald Delancy made that number four when he announced his decision to transfer. Fleming’s news makes it five Floridian recruits from the 2020 class to leave the program.

It appeared that Frost’s connections from his time at UCF were going to help him bring Florida recruits to Nebraska. That was the case in 2020 but might not be in 2021 with the amount of Florida natives packing up their bags after a short stint in Lincoln.
