Scott Frost discusses season-opener in Dublin, planning on 'letting it rip'
Scott Frost revealed what Nebraska’s plans are for their season-opener against Northwestern on Aug. 27. Sam McKewon of the Omaha-World Herald tweeted about what the Husker coach said.
Frost mentioned how the team will be handling the annual giving out of ‘blackshirts’ this season. Blackshirts are jerseys given out to the starters on the football team that dates back to the Bob Devaney era in Lincoln. The tradition will take place in Dublin, on the 1st day that the team is there.
Nebraska will give out Blackshirts in Ireland, Frost says. First day there. #huskers

When it comes to the play calling duties on offense, that will be handled by offensive coordinator Mark Whipple. This will be the 1st game of Whipple’s Nebraska tenure since leaving Pat Narduzzi’s staff at Pitt.

Before finishing up his comments on what the team’s plans are, Frost spoke about the changes he hopes to see. The 2021 season opener resulted in a 30-22 Nebraska loss to Illinois in Champaign. He wants his team to be loose and show some confidence.
Frost says Nebraska was a “little too tight” in Week 0 last year. Frost says he’s going to talk to the team about letting it rip. Team has earned the right to be confident.
