Nebraska senior running back Dedrick Mills has been around. He began his college career at Georgia Tech where he led the team in rushing and was named MVP of the 2017 Gator Bowl for the Yellow Jackets. Then things went south in Atlanta and he transferred to Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas, where he was an honorable mention All-American before transferring to Lincoln to play for the Cornhuskers.

Mills led the Huskers in rushing in 2019 and was leading the team again through three games in 2020 when he went down with an injury. Now Nebraska is 1-3 and headed to Iowa City for their intense rivalry game with the University of Iowa and Huskers head man Scott Frost hopes Mills will be ready to return to action.

“He’s practiced this week,” Frost told 247 Sports. “So it will probably be close with him, but we’re hoping we can go.”

The Cornhuskers likely will need every man in the backfield to attack the Hawkeyes stout run defense, which is the Big Ten’s fourth best unit. Nebraska is on a five game losing streak to Iowa (3-2) in the series and is trying also to bounce back from a surprising 41-23 home loss to Illinois the week after beating Penn State. The game kicks off at noon ET and can be seen on FOX following the Big Noon Kickoff show.
