Earlier this week, Nebraska’s alternate uniforms were revealed for the 2019 season.

Pretty sweet, right?

Yeah, we think so too. Nebraska coach Scott Frost likes the look of them, most likely, just like the rest of us. But on Friday, Frost wasn’t really talking about the look of the uniforms. He talked about how he wanted to make the uniforms more of a tradition:

“I guess I can spill the beans,” Frost said. “I think by next year, hopefully, we have a home and away version of this. And down the road, I’d like to see it be a tradition that if the defense has a great game and holds an opponent under so many points that they earn the right to earn Blackshirts the next week. I think that would be another source of pride for our defense.”

The blackshirt uniforms becoming a tradition would be pretty cool. Like Frost said, the team can use them as a motivational tool, especially for the defense.

We’re not sure when Nebraska is repping these uniforms this season quite yet, but we do know that they will be worn at some point. Hopefully in the future, it can happen on a more consistent basis.

Nebraska’s 2019 season begins on Aug. 31 when the Huskers host South Alabama.
