On Monday, former Wisconsin coach Gary Anderson and the Oregon State Beavers mutually parted ways. That means Oregon State now has half a season and more to find a new head football coach.

Obviously, top coordinators and Group of 5 coaches’ names will be thrown around for this job. However, Sports Illustrated offer a very unique name to watch out for: Nebraska and former Oregon State coach Mike Riley.

Riley actually left Corvallis for Lincoln. If he were to return to the Oregon State program, it would be Riley’s third stint as the Beavers’ head man. Here is what SI had to say about the potential Riley-Oregon State remarriage:

“The most intriguing one would be Nebraska coach Mike Riley returning to Corvallis to coach the Beavers for a third stint. Riley is in serious jeopardy of being forced out of Lincoln after Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst was fired in September, but would he want his old job back, and would the Beavers want to bring the 64-year-old back to take over again? I’m not so sure of the latter.”

I bet Nebraska fans would be happy to see Riley leave if the season continues the way it is going.
