Starting hot: Logan Smothers leads Nebraska to 75-yard TD drive on first possession as a starter
Nebraska started out its season finale in excellent fashion as freshman quarterback Logan Smothers guided the offense to a 75-yard touchdown drive vs. No. 16 Iowa on his first possession as a starter.
Smothers capped off the 12-play, 75-yard, 5:42 drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Smothers is replacing the injured Adrian Martinez.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Smothers headed into the contest with 119 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions this season. The Alabama native arrived at Nebraska as a four-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite. Smothers was rated as the No. 14 dual-threat quarterback in the nation and the No. 14 prospect from Alabama for the Class of 2020.
Nebraska is 3-8 overall and sixth place in the B1G West. The Cornhuskers most recently dropping a 35-28 contest at then-No. 15 Wisconsin.
Iowa is 9-2 overall and first place in the B1G West. The Hawkeyes are on a three-game winning streak, most recently defeating visiting Illinois 33-23.
Nebraska leads the all-time series 29-19-3 but Iowa is on a six-game winning streak.
