Nebraska has landed its first commitment of the 2022 recruiting class.

Sunday morning, the Huskers picked up a verbal pledge from 3-star, in-state linebacker Ernest Hausmann. He made his announcement with a video posted on Twitter. Hausmann commits to Nebraska over offers from 11 other programs.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound inside linebacker is from Columbus, Nebraska. He ranks as the No. 5 prospect out of his home state. Below is his commitment video:

Nearly all of Hausmann’s offers came from teams at the Power 5 level. He picks Nebraska over other B1G programs like Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota and Northwestern. The linebacker also received offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Kansas, Kansas State, Virginia and North Dakota State.

Per 247Sports, Hausmann ranks as the No. 40 linebacker in the 2022 class and comes in at No. 602 overall.

Scott Frost has done an excellent job on the recruiting front during his time in Lincoln. Every year, the Huskers have brought in a class ranked in the Top 25 nationally and have always been in the Top 5 of the B1G. The 2021 class was No. 21 nationally and No. 5 in the B1G.

We’ll see if Hausmann’s commitment results in a string of verbal pledges for the Huskers in the coming days and weeks.
