Well, that didn’t last long.

According to ESPN’s Mitch Sherman, Nebraska freshman Jordan Stevenson left the team. He tweeted a final message that confirmed the news.

Stevenson shed his redshirt against Wisconsin after he got involved in special teams in the return game. He had six returns for an average of 14 yards.

A former four-star running back recruit, the Dallas native was originally committed to Wisconsin. But he was denied admission into the university over the summer, and fell into Nebraska’s lap. He joined the team just before the start of fall camp.

Nebraska will be without its kick returner as it tries to pull off a three-game winning streak to clinch bowl eligibility.
