Thomas Fidone came to Nebraska with big-time expectations in the 2021 recruiting class. Unfortunately, injuries have left Fidone unable to make an impact during his first two seasons with the program.

An ACL injury limited his time as a Freshman before eventually getting shut down in the 2022 season. Despite the setbacks, Fidone remains high on his potential in Lincoln.

In a Monday press conference, Fidone stated he still believes he can become the best TE in the country:

“My expectations haven’t changed at all. I think I can be the Mackey Award winner,” said Fidone. “I think I can be the best tight end in all of college football. I think I can be a first-round pick, a second-round pick. It’s just I’ve had a few setbacks… I don’t think it’s just the destination, I just think it’s changed a little bit of the timing.”

Coming out of high school, Fidone was a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 TE in the country for the 2021 recruiting class. Hopefully he’s able to stay healthy and hit his stride with the program in 2023.
