Osborne is one of the most recognizable figures in Nebraska and college football history. The former Huskers coach was asked Tuesday just what it is that makes Nebraska and Memorial Stadium special.

His answer? The fans. Nebraska’s faithful are considered some of the best in college football for their loyalty, even during some of the program’s lowest points.

Though there have been some rough seasons, Nebraska fans still pack the rafters. And they may soon have something to cheer about if Matt Rhule can right the ship following the Scott Frost tenure.

The Huskers have started the season 3-3, but bowl eligibility is still within reach in what should be a good goal for Rhule in Year 1 considering the circumstances. Nebraska has winnable games on its schedule against Northwestern, Purdue and Michigan State.

They’ll look for win No. 4 Saturday against the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
