Legendary Nebraska coach Tom Osborne has another remarkable honor to add to his long list of accomplishments.
On Thursday afternoon, the National Football Foundation announced that Osborne and Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning have received the Football Bowl Association’s (FBA) highest honor, the Champions Award. Both men will be honored on April 11 I Houston at the annual Champions Award Dinner.
The award is presented annually to a coach or administrator who “over a long career furthers the cause of the college football bowl industry, with special emphasis on the student-athlete experience.”
Osborne coached the Huskers from 1973-97 and compiled a 255-49-3 record during his time in Lincoln. He took his teams to 25 bowl games. Nebraska also won back-to-back national championships in 1994 and 1995. He is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
Other recipients of the Champions Award include: Roy Kramer, Tom Hansen, LaVell Edwards, Bobby Bowden, Grant Teaff, Dennis Poppe, Lee Corso, Mike Slive, Frank Beamer, Donnie Duncan and Mack Brown.
