Trev Alberts, Nebraska AD, discusses sellout streak with 2022 season approaching
Trev Alberts, Nebraska’s athletic director, expects the Cornhuskers to continue its sellout streak during the 2022 season.
The current sellout streak stands at 382 consecutive games. Nebraska’s first game of the season will be a neutral site game against Northwestern in Dublin, Ireland. Since the season opener will not be held in Lincoln, the Cornhuskers will have to wait until Sept. 3 to see if the sellout streak continues.
On Sept. 3, Nebraska will host North Dakota in the home opener. Nebraska believes the extra week will help with ticket sales for the North Dakota game.
Alberts believed the home opener will be sold out for Nebraska (Via The Lincoln Journal Star):
“I’m confident we’ll be sold out,” Alberts said.
The sellout streak for Nebraska began in 1962. The Cornhuskers hope to continue its streak to 60 years.
Nebraska had 446 remaining tickets for the North Dakota game and several other games had more than 600 remaining tickets.
Despite a 3-9 record in 2021, Nebraska’s fans continued to show up to each game and support the Cornhuskers. Even if Nebraska fails to reach a bowl game, the Cornhuskers will likely continue the sellout streak for part of the season, if not the entire season.
Nebraska will play 7 games at home this season.
