Trev Alberts is hoping for a bright future for Nebraska football under new head coach Matt Rhule. While the full results and impact of Rhule’s hiring remain to be seen, there is certainly a different energy in Lincoln heading into the 2023 season.

During Wednesday’s appearance on Huskers Radio Network, Alberts discussed the current wait list for season tickets. According to Alberts, it’s one of the highest Nebraska has seen in a while, and he credited that number to the energy surrounding Rhule and his staff.

“I believe it’s one of the highest waiting list numbers we’ve had in a long time. We have almost 9,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets, so it’s a palpable energy surrounding what coach Rhule has done and his coaching staff,” said Alberts.

Alberts went on to say Nebraska certainly has to earn everything on the field, but he is not discounting the early impact of Rhule and his staff making a strong push within the community.

“Really excited about that and the renewed energy. Obviously, we need to earn it on the field,” Alberts admitted. “There’s a lot of talk but the reality is I think — again, part of what I think has been really great about coach Rhule and our staff is their ability and willingness to work hard to connect to the local community.”

Huge interest for the spring game

The first chance for fans to check out the new-look Huskers will be at the spring game. During his radio show appearance, Alberts announced ticket sales for the spring game are approaching 52,000.

Nebraska has also announced the program will honor former head coach Frank Solich at the spring game. That kind of announcement could push interest in the spring game even hire as the Huskers honor their past and look forward to the future under Rhule.
