As Saturday’s matchup between Nebraska and No. 19 Michigan creeps closer, there’s really one thing on the mind of Huskers fans: will Adrian Martinez play?

Earlier this week, head coach Scott Frost said that the freshman will likely be a game-time decision, much like last Saturday. Martinez is still listed as day-to-day but has been making progress from the leg injury he suffered against Colorado.

On Wednesday, Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reported that Martinez practiced and “did all the stuff.” That statement came from Huskers quarterback coach Mario Verduzco.

Martinez’s return to the Nebraska offense would be huge considering how much the team struggled against Troy last Saturday. But Frost isn’t committing to a quarterback too early.

“The key is going to be if there’s any added danger to further injury,” Frost said Monday. He also said Martinez’s long-term health is most important.

Martinez was sensational in Nebraska’s season opener against Colorado. The true freshman completed 15-of-20 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. He was also the team’s leading rusher, totaling 117 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Saturday will mark the B1G opener for both Nebraska and Michigan. The Huskers come in with an 0-2 record after losing to Troy. The Wolverines are 2-1 after defeating SMU last Saturday.
