Nebraska fans can breathe a little easier now.

South Alabama gave the No. 24 ranked Cornhuskers some problems in the first half, but Nebraska senior safety Eric Lee returned an interception for a touchdown less than two minutes into the third quarter to give the Cornhuskers some breathing space.

Lee returned his pick 38 yards to the end zone. It was the first interception of Lee’s college career.

Nebraska led South Alabama by just seven when Lee made his interception, but the Cornhuskers have now scored twice with returns early in the third quarter. In addition to Lee’s return, JD Spielman took back a punt 76 yards to the end zone.

The Cornhuskers lead South Alabama, 28-7, with under 10 minutes to play in the third quarter.
