What Scott Frost said after another one-possession loss for Nebraska
It’s a familiar tale for Nebraska under Scott Frost: One-possession losses.
The Cornhuskers have dropped 17 of 22 one-possession games since Frost took over as head coach in 2018, including Saturday’s 30-23 loss to Minnesota. All 5 of Nebraska’s losses this season have been within one possession.
Adrian Martinez had a solid day under center, throwing for 241 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-33 passing. But Tanner Morgan was very efficient for the Golden Gophers, completing 20 of 24 passes for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns — a much-needed performance since Minnesota’s down its top running backs. He also threw for 2 interceptions, and Nebraska scored off one of them.
Frost met the media after the game and talked about the effort, including the “little details” and how he’s “tired of saying it.” The Cornhuskers head into the bye week next week, which gives them a chance to regroup after back-to-back tough losses.
Here’s what Frost had to say:
There wasn't as much juice this week, but Frost said "it looked business-like" in preparation. "We needed more juice obviously in the first half. … We lost a lot of one-on-one battles in the first half."

On the false start on third-and-5, another killer. "We had a run play call I felt really good about."

"Little details got us beat. I know the guys are tired of hearing that, I'm tired of saying that." Frost said he considered going under center on fourth-and-goal. Said Gophers had done well on sneak in film study. Thought it would have been a score without a Yant stumble.

Nebraska coach Scott Frost on the loss of Gene Chinander: “He would have wanted to see Erik win today.” Frost said his parents, coaches like the father of the Huskers’ DC, were close with Gene, a relationship born when Frost and Erik Chinander lived together in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Frost says team was “business-like” before the game. Didn’t have juice. Frost wasn’t sure whether to be concerned or not. But NU didn’t bring enough of its own.

Frost says he considered going under center on 4th and goal.
Frost said the team didn’t have quite the same energy to start the game.
“And that’s on us.” Frost says of coaches
