What Scott Frost said as Nebraska prepares for B1G West clash with Purdue
Nebraska had a lot to think over during its bye week.
The Cornhuskers are coming off another one-possession loss, this time to a shorthanded Minnesota team 30-23 in Week 7. Now, they’re gearing up for Purdue this week.
Quarterback Adrian Martinez continues to be a threat in the B1G. He ranks 12th in the league in rushing yards with 54.1 yards per game and is 3rd in passing yards per game with 249.4. He can beat teams in multiple ways, which is why Nebraska’s been able to keep with other B1G opponents.
Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost met the media Monday afternoon ahead of his team’s game against Purdue. He talked about the bye week, hitting the “mad button” in Wednesday’s practice on Wednesday and provided an update on injured linebacker Deontai Williams, who’s tied for the league lead with 4 interceptions.
Here’s what he had to say:
Frost on Deontai Williams: "He'll be back this season. I don't know when."

Nebraska coach Scott Frost said Marques Buford "attacked" spring and fall camp in a way that puts him in a position to play now. #huskers

Nebraska coach Scott Frost says he and his assistants hit the "mad" button last Wednesday in practice. (I asked if he's ever tempted to do so, hence the phrasing.)
Frost believes in remaining cool on gameday. Team takes on the personality of the coach. #huskers

Frost is very high on Purdue edge George Karlaftis.
But he also threw out another name on their front seven: Jalen Graham, the SAM LB.
Graham has 27 tackles and a team-high five pass breakups. Pretty versatile player.

Frost said that for Nebraska offense to be better in the red zone, "Our basic stuff has to be better." #Huskers

Sounds like no Deontai Williams this week for Nebraska. He’s tied for the Big Ten lead interceptions with four. Expect Myles Farmer to get the start in his place at safety. Coach Scott Frost says the Huskers needs to be at their best in the secondary against Purdue. pic.twitter.com/hjBZW0eFBf
