What Scott Frost said at Nebraska's weekly press conference
Nebraska was so, so close. With a 10 point lead with less than six minutes remaining in the game, the Huskers appeared to be on their way to posting an upset win over Northwestern on Saturday afternoon.
Instead, the defense surrendered two scoring drives to the Wildcats, the offense stumbled in overtime and Northwestern kicker Drew Luckenbaugh kicked a game-winning field goal in overtime.
For Scott Frost and Nebraska, it was the most heartbreaking loss yet.
But the Huskers have another very winnable game coming up this week, as they take on Minnesota at Memorial Stadium Saturday. And after coming so close to victory, Nebraska will be starving for a win this weekend.
As he does every Monday, Frost met with the media to talk about Saturday’s loss to Northwestern and preview the upcoming matchup against the Gophers. Here’s what he had to say:
Frost goes big picture: Says Nebraska was one play away from changing the current conversation dramatically toward the positive.

Frost: "I was so impressed with how they came back today." #huskers

Frost: "It was best practice ever."
Doesn't want the team to get used to losing tho.

Frost said he wouldn't change how NU D defended Flynn Nagel: "He beat us. Northwestern beat us, but he had a lot to do with it." #huskers

Frost says, "We left a lot on table." Runs through a long list of guys playing well.
"We came up one play short."

Frost says technique and fundamentals but just a little off on D. Still working on it. Getting better. Talking about breaking on passes, bursting to guys who have the ball.

Frost says defense isn't making a lot of busts. That shows you guys are dialed in. But he does say there are technique issues.

Frost is on defensive head set at times "when I feel like I need to be." He converses with Chinander at various points of games. But Frost makes clear he has to put most of his focus on offense since he's the play-caller.

Frost says on the overtime false start, the ball *was* supposed to be snapped, but it wasn't, and Martinez told Frost music was still playing during snap. Farmer didn't hear Martinez. Frost said center needs to be more locked in and quarterback needs to be louder. #Huskers

Frost says "it doesn't look real good" for freshman safety CJ Smith. Could be a serious knee injury.
