ESPN will have some explaining to do for this one.

The World Wide Leader made a confusing mistake on Wednesday night, as the network miss-identified current Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez as former Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez.

Adrian was being shown in the crowd in Omaha at the College World Series when the blunder occurred.

Here’s a screenshot:

Taylor Martinez last played for the Huskers in 2013. He played four total seasons, throwing for 7,258 yards, 56 touchdowns and 29 interceptions.

To his credit, Adrian had some fun with the situation and tagged Taylor in his response:

Martinez is expected to start for the Huskers again in 2021. Last year, he threw for 1,055 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions across seven games. He also ran the ball 91 times for 521 yards.

The Huskers are hoping to qualify for a bowl game for the first time since 2016.

Nebraska opens its 2021 campaign against Illinois on August 28.
