This was not supposed to happen.

Coming into this season, expectations were a bit higher for Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers. Though some predicted Nebraska to compete for the division title in the B1G West, most expected the Cornhuskers to reach a bowl game in Year 2 of Frost. Unfortunately, the loss to Purdue has made that possibility a bit tougher to achieve.

The season has really turned sideways following a narrow win over Northwestern. In the three games since, the Cornhuskers have been dominated on the road by Minnesota, beaten at home by Indiana, and lost on the road with Purdue’s third-string QB leading a game-winning drive.

The results have not been pretty with a three-game losing streak dropping Frost and company to a 4-5 record overall. ESPN’s FPI has also updated Nebraska’s win probability for the final three games, and it does not paint a pretty picture.

If these projections hold true, the Cornhuskers will once again be at home during the postseason. Here is what the FPI is predicting:

  • Nov. 16 vs Wisconsin – 13.3%
  • Nov. 23 @ Maryland – 44.5%
  • Nov. 29 vs Iowa – 21.7%
