Detroit Casinos Bounce Back With $111.6 Million In July Revenue

After a down June, the three Detroit commercial casinos bounced back in July with an impressive revenue total.
Last month, the MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown combined for $111.6 million in revenue.
Not only was that a 9.6% jump from the $101.8 million in June, but it was also a year-over-year improvement of 5.3% from July 2025’s $106.0 million.
Largest July Revenue Total Since 2021
Crossing the $110 million mark in July hasn’t been an easy accomplishment for the Detroit casinos. This marks the first time in five years the trio have done that.
The last time came in 2021, as the casinos were finally starting to emerge from capacity limitations caused by the COIVD-19 pandemic.

MGM Grand Detroit Takes 47% Market Share
The MGM Grand Detroit continues to lead the way of the three Detroit commercial casinos when it comes to revenue, bringing home 47% of the total share in July.
Here’s a look at how each of the three casinos performed last month. Data is provided by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
- MGM Grand Detroit: $52,501,050
- MotorCity Casino: $34,325,828
- Hollywood Casino at Greektown: $24,816,740
These three casinos generated $9.0 million in state tax revenue for July, as well as an additional $13.3 million in Detroit city tax revenue.
Detroit Casinos Increase Revenue Gap from 2025
Thanks to the strong July, the three Detroit casinos have pushed their revenue lead on last year by another 0.5%.
After June, the trio were up 1.4% in revenue compared to 2025 through six months. Now, with July’s data factored in, the casinos are up 1.9% compared to last year at this time.

The Detroit casinos remain on pace to reach over $1.3 billion in revenue for 2026. That would be the first time these locations have achieved that collectively since 2019, prior to the pandemic and prior to the launch of Michigan online casinos in January 2021.
