For the third consecutive month, Detroit casinos surpassed $110 million in revenue.

In May, the three commercial casinos in the Motor City collected $113.3 million in gaming revenue.

This marks the first time that the Detroit casinos have achieved that since December 2019-February 2020.

While a 4% drop from April’s $118.0 million, last month was still a 0.5% increase from May 2025’s $112.7 million.

Detroit Casinos get Another Positive

It’s been a grind for the three Detroit casinos since the pandemic.

MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown haven’t been able to collectively get too close to 2019 revenue numbers.

But, May marks the second straight month that these three brick-and-mortar casinos have some really positive news.

April’s $118 million was the largest revenue month in over two years and the third-largest month post pandemic.

Now, the casinos have gained at least $110 million in revenue for three consecutive months. That hasn’t happened since before the pandemic.

Both are signs that Detroit casinos are continuing to make gains despite the competition from the increasingly growing Michigan online casino industry.

Detroit Casino Revenue Staying Ahead of 2025 Pace

The three Detroit casinos are still staying ahead of the 2025 revenue pace through the first five months of the year.

Thus far, the trio have combined for $545.9 million in 2026, a 1.2% improvement from where they sat a year ago.

Detroit CasinoRevenue (Jan-May 2025)Revenue (Jan-May 2026)% Difference
MGM Grand Detroit$254,353,603$261,555,4392.8%
MotorCity Casino$161,912,623$164,975,1001.9%
Hollywood Casino at Greektown$123,010,050$119,418,430-2.9%
Total$539,276,276$545,948,9681.2%

Currently, Detroit is on pace to get past $1.3 billion in yearly casino revenue. That would again be the first time it has done that since before the pandemic.

It will be an interesting few summer months to see if these casinos can keep moving ahead of recent years.

One key that could help is a lengthy construction project on Monroe Street in front of Hollywood Casino at Greektown will be wrapping up in the fall, with construction directly in front of one of the casino entrances concluding this month.

The project has definitely made it more challenging for patrons to access the casino, and created a much less consumer-friendly environment around Monroe Street, which is a popular area for social activities.
