Following a slightly disappointing end to 2025, the three Detroit casinos bounced back nicely in January.

Last month, the MGM Grand Detroit, Motor City Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown combined for $103.1 million in revenue. That was the highest January mark since 2023. The data was supplied by the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

January’s revenue was a slight 0.3% dip from December’s $103.4 million, but was a 0.8% increase from January 2025’s $102.3 million.

January Not Been a Strong Revenue Month

Since the pandemic, January revenue has been relatively light in comparison to the rest of the year for the Detroit casinos. So, this year’s mark can be taken as a positive after the three casinos finished just shy of 2024’s yearly revenue in 2025.

Here’s a look at how January has shaped up in previous years.

YearJanuary Revenue
2022$98,971,815
2023$103,358,406
2024$93,904,688
2025$102,299,593
2026$103,086,893

After putting up $103.4 million in December, which was 5.4% below December 2024, that left the Detroit casinos with $1.27 billion in revenue for all of 2025. That was 1.3% below the $1.28 billion the casinos recorded in 2024.

February is understandably also a down month typically, with it being the fewest number of days. However, March tends to be the best month of revenue. So, we should get a better idea of how the Detroit casinos are faring in 2026 in these next few months.

All Three Casinos See Revenue Growth

Adding to the positive report from January is that all three of the Detroit casinos saw year-over-year revenue growth. It wasn’t a situation where one had big improvement to carry the rest.

Detroit CasinoJan. 2025 RevenueJan. 2026 RevenuePercentage Difference
MGM Grand Detroit$49,925,772$50,179,7540.5%
MotorCity Casino$30,592,016$30,971,9951.2%
Hollywood Casino at Greektown$21,781,805$21,935,1440.7%

In 2025, only the MGM Grand Detroit had year-over-year revenue improvement, moving from $603.7 million in 2024 to $605.3 million in 2025. MotorCity Casino dipped by just under $10 million, while Hollywood Casino at Greektown was behind by about $9 million.

Despite the recent dips for the Detroit casinos, Michigan online casinos recorded $3.09 billion in gross revenue for all of 2025, which was a 26.4% increase from the $2.44 billion the state did in 2024.
