The Chicago Bulls waived formerPurdue guard Jaden Ivey on Monday for, as a release put it, “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Ivey’s tenure as a Chicago Bull did not last long. He was traded to Chicago from Detroit in February of this year after spending 4 seasons with the Pistons. The 24-year-old was selected No. 5 overall in the 2022 NBA Draft.
The Bulls waived Ivey thanks to a 45-minute Instagram live, where he commented on the NBA celebrating pride night and “unrighteousness.”
“They proclaim Pride Month in the NBA,” Ivey said. “They show it to the world, they say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.'”
Here’s a look at a segment from the video from Ivey’s Instagram live. Keep in mind that this is far from the only instance of Ivey posting his thoughts on subjects such as LGBTQ, religion and more.
Ivey only suited up for 4 games with the Bulls, being named a starter for 3 of them. Across 37 games of action for both Chicago and Detroit, Ivey has posted averages of 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4 assists per game.
