EA Sports is bringing back a college basketball video game, much to the delight of fans far and wide!

Last year, the popular video game company officially re-introduced the highly anticipated college football video game. After a smashing success, the game is set for its next installment under the “College Football 26” label.

However, EA Sports confirmed on Monday that a new college basketball game is in the works with a teaser post on social media. Here’s what it looked like:

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit with the game still in the early stages. According to college sports reporter Matt Brown, the game is targeting a 2028 release date.

Brown also reported that the game, previously identified as “NCAA Basketball,” will be identified as “EA Sports College Basketball,” following a similar model as the new college football game. It is also reported that women’s basketball programs will be included in the new version.

The game originally began as “NCAA March Madness 98” and maintained the March Madness name through the 08 installment. NCAA Basketball produced 09 and 10 versions before being discontinued.

Fan reaction

To no surprise, fans were overjoyed at another college sports offering getting reintroduced to the video game market. Here is a sampling of how fans and media alike reacted to the news:
