Former Ohio State starter Sean Stewart announced on Wednesday afternoon that he’s staying in the Big Ten and transferring to Oregon.

Stewart, a former 5-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American, revealed his next collegiate destination to On3 Sports. The 6-foot-9 sophomore forward began his college career at Duke, so he’s already become quite familiar with the transfer process. When he joins the Ducks for next season, it will be Stewart’s 3rd program in 3 years.

The native of Windermere, Fla., was a dependable piece for the Buckeyes last season, starting 30 games for Ohio State. He averaged 5.7 points and 5.8 rebounds in 2024-25 while shooting 54.2% from the field.

During his first collegiate season at Duke, Stewart averaged 2.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 33 games. He didn’t make any starts for the Blue Devils, though, and opted to transfer to Ohio State for his second season.

Stewart was the 17th-ranked player overall in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He also came to Duke with that 5-star rating but has failed to live up to that billing over his first 2 collegiate seasons at Duke and Ohio State. Stewart will look to change that next season in the Pacific Northwest.

Stewart’s father, Mike Stewart, played 8 years in the NBA.
