Iowa announces signing of standout transfer Alvaro Folgueiras, Horizon League Player of the Year

Iowa has made a big-time pickup in the transfer portal.
On Monday, the Hawkeyes announced the signing of Robert Morris transfer Alvaro Folgueiras, who committed to Iowa on Sunday evening.

The 2025 Horizon League Player of the Year, Folgueiras heads to Iowa City after 2 seasons at RMU. Originally from Spain, Folgueiras prepped at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Folgueiras was a freshman contributor for Robert Morris in 2023-24. He appeared in 32 games, making 6 starts. In his first collegiate season, Folgueiras averaged 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 rebounds over 17.8 minutes per game.
As a sophomore, Folgueiras’s playing time and production increased significantly. He started all 34 games for RMU, playing 29.1 points per game. He averaged 13.8 points and 8.9 points per game. Folgueiras shot 54.4% from the field this past season, making 41.5% of his 3-point attempts.
