Ben McCollum continues to add to an elite transfer recruiting class, shaping the roster for his first season as the head coach at Iowa. On Monday, a veteran sharpshooter was added to the mix.
According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, former Kansas State and Villanova guard Brendan Hausen has committed to the program. Hausen started 33 games for Kansas State last year and has 99 career appearances as an elite shooter.
Hausen finished 4th in the Big 12 this past season while shooting 38.8% from long range and finished 5th in the conference with 90 made 3-pointers. For his career, Hausen shoots 39.1% from deep, and it is expected that he will thrive in McCollum’s system in Iowa City.
The 6-foot-4 Hausen received a 4-star transfer rating from 247 Sports. He averaged 10.9 points and 2.5 rebounds, and he is also an 82.8% free-throw shooter.
The addition of Hausen brings Iowa’s number of incoming transfers to 6, a group that is currently ranked as the 6th-best transfer recruiting class in the country per 247 Sports. He joins 5 former Drake players who are following McCollum to the Hawkeyes, including star point guard Bennett Stirtz.
We’ll see how all the pieces gel in Iowa City, but things are coming together nicely for McCollum.
