JuJu Watkins had a tremendous season, as she helped USC earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, her March Madness was cut short as she tore her ACL 5 minutes into the Trojans’ second-round game against Mississippi State.

That didn’t stop the accolades from coming in, as she was named the Wooden Award winner this year. She averaged 23.9 PPG, which was 4th in the country. Her 789 points this year were also the 4th most for any USC player, while her 920 as a freshman is a program record.

During an appearance on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” Watkins shared a message about her recovery from the injury.

“I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason,” Watkins said. “I think my first week I was in complete shock. It is the first time that I have dealt with this type of adversity. I am really just getting prepared for what is to come. Ready to just get to work on rehab so I can be back on the floor with my teammates.”

Watkins is only a sophomore, meaning she will be back next season at USC on a team that once again figures to be among the best in the country.
