The Fab Five keep delivering for the Michigan basketball program.

Over three decades since Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson took over the nation with their unique style, the celebrated Michigan squad heralded in a new talent to the Wolverines – as 5-star recruit Brandon McCoy Jr. committed to Michigan on the Fab Five’s Final Four alt-cast Saturday night.

McCoy, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Calif., is the No. 14 player nationally in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He pledged to Michigan over offers from Arkansas, Miami, Alabama, Duke and others.

Webber, Rose, Howard, King and Jackson were the keystones of Michigan’s 1991 recruiting class and became the first set of freshmen to start in a major-college game. The Wolverines played in back-to-back Final Fours in 1992 and 1993, though both appearances were vacated because Webber accepted financial aid from Ed Martin that compromised his amateur status.

McCoy played at St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) for three seasons before transferring to Sierra Canyon for his senior season. He becomes coach Dusty May’s first 5-star prospect since taking over in Ann Arbor and is Michigan’s sixth commitment in the 2026 class.

Michigan dominated Arizona 91-73, and will play UConn on Monday night (8:50 pm ET, TBS/TruTV) for the program’s second national championship.
