Week 8 saw Penn State continue its dominance and Rutgers build a win streak in the B1G. Here are the 10 things I am absolutely overreacting to after Week 8 in the B1G:
1. Saquon Barkley had a Heisman moment
If it wasn’t evident before, it is now. Barkley is having that special kind of season. The Heisman Trophy candidate and quite possibly the leader in that race, had 263 total yards and three touchdowns in Penn State’s easy 42-13 win over Michigan on Saturday night. But his Heisman moment came in the early moments of the game.
On the third play of the game, Barkley’s 69 yard run set the tone for the game and his bobbling touchdown grab was an amazing way to cap off the performance.
With Barkley, Penn State has a chance to win every game. He’s likely going to be the best player on the field in every week.
2. Penn State has the nation’s best offense
The Nittany Lions’ offense has outscored opponents 90-0 in the first quarter. Plus it has outscored their opposition by an average of 30.4 points per game. The verdict says that’s good and that sounds like the best offense in the country.
3. Give me Penn State vs Alabama already
Penn State fans were shouting it Saturday night, they want Bama. And I agree with them. Give me Penn State and Alabama already.

Both teams have dominated this season. Against their perceived toughest opponents so far this season (Florida State and Michigan were both predicted to be good this season), the Nittany Lions and the Crimson Tide have absolutely crushed them.
If both teams keep their performances up, they should meet for the National Championship. However, I just want the game now.
4. Rutgers is BACK!
Yes, you read that right. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are BACK!

After defeating Purdue on Saturday, 14-12, Rutgers is now on a two-game B1G win streak. Now, both conference wins have came against the Boilermakers and Illinois. However, it is still impressive because some believed the Scarlet Knights were going to be the worse team in the B1G this season.
With these two B1G wins, Rutgers is tied for fourth in the B1G East with Michigan. So the Scarlet Knights are officially BACK! Celebrate Rutgers fans!
5. Michigan is could go lower than 8-4
All year, I have though the Michigan Wolverines have been at best an 8-4 type of team. With a 5-2 record and Wisconsin and Ohio State still left on the schedule, that looks like the best possible outcome. However, after watching the Wolverines’ offense against Penn State, I think Michigan can go lower than 8-4 this year.
The offense has struggled to produce points and any team can beat anybody in the B1G. While the defense has been at a championship level this year, the offense needs to pick it up if Michigan doesn’t want to fall underneath the 8-4 mark.
6. Wisconsin should be handed the B1G West title already
The Badgers have been dominant this year. Now, for the other teams in the B1G West, not so much.
Wisconsin’s remaining competition this year in the West is Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. All of whom look way below the Badgers level of play. So just give Wisconsin the West title already.
7. The B1G produced the best flea flicker you will see all season
The Purdue Boilermakers had some tricks up their sleeves on Saturday against Rutgers. One of those tricks was this 41 yard flea flicker.

Now, the flea flicker didn’t go for a touchdown, but it did net a 41-yard gain on the ground and served as its own little reverse play-action
8. B1G football was bad yesterday
Saturday’s games were perfect examples why college football fans disliked the B1G. I mean look at these halftime scores:
- Iowa 7 Northwestern 0
- Rutgers 7 Purdue 3
- Indiana 3 Michigan State 3
- Minnesota 7 Illinois 7
That is just bad football. The only good game, for awhile at least, was the Penn State-Michigan game. But that turned into a blowout in the second half. So all in all, it was just an ugly day for B1G football.
9. Illinois is not the worst team in the country
Last week, I stated that the Illinois Fighting Illini were the worst team in the nation. However, after Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, that is not the case anymore.
The Illinois defense was outstanding. It actually kept the Illini in the game. However, their offense couldn’t get the job done. However, that performance over Minnesota sold me that Illinois is still bad but they are not the worst team in the country. That title belongs to Kansas who loss to TCU, 43-0, on Saturday.
10. Iowa what are you doing?
Iowa, you used to look like Wisconsin’s biggest threat in the West. But after Saturday’s game against Northwestern, that doesn’t look like the case.
The Hawkeye offense couldn’t get anything done against an OK Wildcat defense. Plus, Iowa just played a tentative game in general. After watching that performance, I wondered where the Iowa that took Penn State to the final seconds of the game went.
